While in the pursuit of happiness,
one should stop -
and just be happy . . .

New Year's Eve

The last day of 2011 ended on a fantastic note weather-wise, for sure -- very mild.  David Smith's farm has become a favored place to visit when grandchildren are here and when Bro. Smith has something he really wants to show off (which is most of the time).  He called Joe at the end of the week and told him he wanted us to come see his baby goats.  Joe set up a time with him for Saturday when we knew that Lori's fam could go, too.  The pictures tell about our outing pretty well.  All the animals are always fun to see - especially the babies.  And, of course, Beckham.  That dog is amazing and is the pride and joy of Bro. Smith.  It's always fun to hear him talk about what makes a good dog and what makes good children.

After we got back home, Janel and her family arrived to have dinner and spend the night with us before heading back to MI.  It was so fun to have them here.  I guess I never thought she'd be spending the night again at my house, but I was wrong.  It reminded me of "old times" - except for this visit, after the kids were all asleep, Janel & Lori talked about such things as counter tops, paint colors, etc.  That was different.

"Yes, William, this is how a barn with goats in it smells."

We thought "Boots" would be a good name for this baby.

Jack was asleep when we arrived.
He had a hard time waking up, but once he did  . . .

Watching the goats on the hill and waiting for Beckham to round them up
in respose to David's commands

Before and after the commands
- notice how Beckham is making sure the goats stay where he put them.

Turn Around

Where are you going my little one, little one?
Where are you going my baby my own?
Turn around and you're two,
Turn around and you're four,
Turn around and you're a young girl
Going out of the door.

Where are you going my little one, little one?
Little dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone?
Turn around and you're tiny,
Turn around and you're grown,
Turn around and you're a young wife
With babes of your own.
