Joe hit the BIG SIX FIVE on Saturday, February 4th. I had a Plan A, then a Plan B, and then a Plan C to celebrate his special day, but as it turned out, none of the plans worked. Mom was in the hospital, and almost all my time was spent with her. Matthew & his family, and Christy & Eric came and spent part of the afternoon with Joe. Christy made him a cake and they all enjoyed that together.
But, today - one week after the fact - we went to Readyville Mill & Eatery for breakfast (which was the previous Saturday's Plan B). We didn't get to do as much exploring outside as we would like to have done (the wind chill was eleven degrees and there were light snow showers), but we sure enjoyed our time inside. It is quite a historic spot and their breakfast menu features grain that is freshly ground at the mill. I had the whole wheat pancakes with strawberry compote and Joe had sourdough french toast with a praline topping - and we each had a side of bacon. It was delicious!
There was live music and the band has a beautiful sound. We could have sat and listened to them all day. I bought some maple syrup, vanilla, and a small jar of locally produced honey. Can't wait to try those.
