one should stop -

Sequatchie Valley

Baylor, Kyndal, & Kimber have stayed with me several Tuesdays during their summer break from school while their mom and dad were at work.  Since tomorrow is their first day back to school, I took them to the Cookie Jar Cafe in Dunlap for lunch.  We ate some yummy food, made some sweet selections from their delcious dessert offerings, visited some of the farm animals there, played on the playground, and then went for a photo op overlooking the spectacularly beautiful Sequatchie Valley.  What a nice outing we had!

A Full Day

Monday started with Liv and me going to Little House so that I could do some things there.  After that, we went back to Shangri La, cleaned up - and with Layla - went to pick up Baylor & Kyndal.  From there, we went to do a little shoe shopping in M'boro.  We then met the Jones Fam at a nearby park so the kids could help prepare lunch bags for homeless children in the area, and then the kiddos had fun on the play equipment there.  A trip to Dairy Queen topped off a very nice day.  Not that the fun ended there - everyone was pretty excited about the sleepover at the Jones house.

Downtown McMinnville on a Friday Night

The girls and I went to Billy's Restaurant for dinner and then drove downtown to see if Main Street Live featuring The Joe Harvey Band was still happening.  It had been stormy and had rained really hard while we were eating.  It had rained there, too, but the storm had only delayed the concert.  While the musicians were setting up, we walked most of Main Street before we headed back to listen to the music for a while.

Fountain of the Great Deep

Well, we didn't have to dig all the way to China to find water, but we did have to go 100 feet further than we had hoped.  That's the not-as-great-as-we-had-hoped-for news.  The good news is that the water is clear.

On May 4th, Milton Mills met us at the Dumplin' Mountain Road property.  With his trusty green wild cherry branch, he began the age-old, low-tech process for water witchin' / divinin' - take your pick.  Nine days and 262' later, we struck water - not as good a stream as we had hoped for, but sufficient for our needs.  We are so relieved that he did, in fact, hit water before he hit limestone.  That would have been VERY disappointing!!!

And a few weeks later it looked like this ---
