Sweetest General Conference Moment

We went out to watch the last session of General Conference this afternoon at G'ma M's.  She sat in the green recliner for almost all of it, and I'm sure, heard almost nothing - the volume would have had to be really turned up for that - and Joe & I would most likely have lost some of our hearing had we done so.  The last hymn was Abide with Me, 'tis Eventide.  I told Joe to crank up the volume - thought she might like to hear that familiar hymn.  As soon as he did, she got up and did a quick G'ma shuffle to the loveseat to see if she could see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing that beloved hymn.  What a sweet moment!

Twelve Years!

It seems impossible that it's been twelve years since Joe and I married.  It's been a wonderful journey.  To celebrate, we spent a good part of the day in Muddy Pond - a Mennonite community in Overton County.  Visiting there has been on our Tennessee Bucket List for a while.  From there, we drove to Crossville where we had a delicious dinner at a very unique place, Stagecoachplace Cafe.  We followed that up with a performance at the Cumberland County Playhouse of To Kill A Mockingbird - based on one of the best books I've ever read.  Loved it.

These are the smallest of the containers they fill.
Their operation is a fascinating mix of the old and the new.
They ship their sorghum all over the USA & Canada

I won't ever think of "Behold your little ones"
in quite the same way after seeing this.

Joe left this place with an all leather, custom-fitted belt
for the low, low price of only $15!

G'ma Pics

This was taken one Sunday afternoon in September when
we visited all the family graves at Gardens of Memory.

This was taken on October 2nd.
Dr. Ty Webb has been Mom's PCP for many years now.
He has always been so kind and patient and has always taken the time to visit with Mom.
He's even learned to speak where she can hear him!
At the end of the skin cancer treatments, they usually talk for a while.
The conversations always include death and God and gratitude and faith.
They end with God bless you's and choked back emotion.
At this last visit, I couldn't resist capturing this moment
as a tribute to him and to her.

Ceseley's Work

The Ellsworths came to stay with us a few days on their way home
from their extended stay in Utah.
On the last morning they were here,
I noticed that Ceseley was in and out of my bedroom.
I was in the kitchen, and as she would walk by
she would tell me she was
"working" - "making my bedroom pretty" -
"doing a job" - wanted to "earn money", etc.

When I went in, this is what I found.
Still makes me smile.
And, yes, she left $5 richer.
And she left me richer, as well!

She and her family visited us back in June, too.
On the last day they were here,
I told her that I was really going to miss her.
Immediately, she reassured me with this:
"Nonna, you have your memories."
Man, she's quick.
She said the prayer over our little picnic lunch outside shortly after that.
Included in that prayer were these words, "Help Nonna to be brave."
