Jones Boy #3
The day began with three Jones men.
Samuel Owen is here! But we didn't know his name at the time.
It took his parents f.o.r.e.v.e.r to name him.
Well, one of his parents.
Well, one of his parents.
The day ended with four Jones men.
Lori, you are out-manned!

Katie & Her Prize Winning Biscuits
Eric brought Katie to our house on Tuesday for her biscuit making lesson. She watched me make a batch and then she made a batch. While hers were baking, we all enjoyed the ones I made filled with either honey butter or bacon.
She chose the 3 most uniform ones from her batch to enter in the 4-H contest the next day. Happy to report that she placed second. Not bad for her first try!

Happy Birthday, Joe!!!!!!!!!!!
On Saturday (two days before Joe's birthday), we went to High Point Restaurant for his birthday dinner. Neither one of us had ever been there before, but we had heard a lot about it. It was a cold, snowy day - which seems to always be the case when we celebrate his birthday, since he was born in February! We left in time to do some exploring in the Sewanee and Monteagle areas before going to eat. It is so interesting to see the historic buildings in that area that have so much European influence -- especially on the University of the South's campus. We also stopped in at the Smoke House to see what that is all about. We sampled some different flavored pork rinds, bought a fried peach pie for the next day, picked up a menu for the restaurant, and set a goal to go back sometime for dinner and live music.
Now, for the important stuff: What were our selections from the High Point menu? Joe -- New England Clam Chowder & clover leaf rolls, followed by a NY Strip and loaded baked potato. Me -- Lobster Bisque with plain turnover followed by filet mignon and asparagus drizzled with Hollandaise sauce. Yum. Afterward, we looked longingly at the dessert menu (at least I did), but we were already way too full. Next time? Maybe just a salad and dessert.
The historic house (mansion for that place in that time) is very inviting and warm with history. One of those places that you have to wonder, "If these walls could talk......."
And today . . . is his actual birthday. And here is his "cake" ------------

Snow in Rockvale!
I stayed with Will & Jack while their parents went to the temple and then out to eat. We had fun being together. I spent the night, and the next morning we woke up to SNOW!!! Not much. But snow, nonetheless.
