Flowers for Kathy

On Monday, February 24, 2014, Joe and I drove to Kingsport so that I could see Kathy again.  The last time I was with her was in July of last year.  As bad as she was then, she was worse this time.  Communication has been difficult for some time, but it is almost impossible for her now.  She smiled a few times, for sure when I showed her the flowers.  She tried to "talk" off and on, but the only words I was able to lipread were "I love you, too."  I was so grateful to see her again, but I'm so sorry that she has to linger in a body that is little more than a prison for her.  The visits involve so many emotions for me, and I'm sure, for her, too.  This time, I just wanted to pick her up and bring her home with me.  It was so hard to leave her there.

We had spent the night before at the Whites in Oak Ridge.  Christy had made a belated happy birthday dinner for Joe, and Betsy and her family joined us.  It was delicious, as usual.  It was a warm and sunny day, so after we ate and cleaned up the kitchen, we took a nice, long walk around their neighborhood.  Other than that, we just enjoyed a leisurely visit with all who were there.

After we left Kathy, we drove to Sevierville so that we could get a better feel for where Blake & Lauren's up-coming wedding venue is in relation to other things in the area.  We also started gathering information for possible places to host their rehearsal dinner.

On our way home, we met Blake & Lauren in downtown Knoxville at Tupelo Honey Cafe. The food was great and we really loved being with both of them.
