While in the pursuit of happiness,
one should stop -
and just be happy . . .

Moffitt/Hitchcock Christmas

(The Moffitt/Hitchcock Version of "'Twas the Night before Christmas"
by Betsy, Elizabeth, Mikayla, Ashley, Seth, and ChiChi)

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through Pa's house,
People were sneaking, each quiet as a mouse.

They all wanted the chance to see Santa that night,
And find who had been naughty and who had done right.

Munkle was first, creeping down by the stairs
While ChiChi was hiding behind the big chair.

Nonna crept from her room with camera in hand
Determined to catch Santa when out of the chimney he'd land.

Maggie came in and headed for Santa's cookie plate.
Blake firmly whispered, “Maggie, no!”, but he was too late.

An angry Brett popped up with Leah and Shawn,
“Way to go, Maggie! Now Santa's cookies are gone!”

Lori and Patrick, decked out in spy gear,
Said, “Quiet everyone, or Santa won't come here!”

Dan parted the curtains, Julee looked out the window,
When Santa came, they wanted to be the first to know.

Suddenly there came the quiet sound of sipping,
And Mandy exclaimed, “Santa's hot chocolate is missing!”

Mathew cried, “Where on earth could it be?”
While Keeley searched under the Christmas tree.

Bryce began searching from carpet to soffit.
Then Kristi yelled out, “Eric Moffitt!”

He was hiding the cup behind Christmas cards
When Matthew proclaimed, “Eric's guilty as charged!”

Jenny scolded, “Matthew, you be nice!”
Then Holly yawned, and Clinton turned off the lights.

Justin object, “I still wanna see the big man!”
Betsy said, “Be quiet and wait and maybe you can.”

But in a matter of minutes, they were all snoring.
And before they knew it, it was Christmas morning.

Pa woke them up.  “Santa's been here,” he said.
“Look out the window.  There are the tracks from his sled.”

“Oh, and I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
'Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!'”
